    About Antony Sigmarsson

    Movement Recovery Specialist & Founder of Pain To Power

    Dr. Antony Sigmarsson, MD, PhD, is a physician and movement specialist who has dedicated his career to revolutionising chronic pain recovery and movement mastery. With over 12 years in practice, he has developed a unique methodology that fuses Eastern and Western medicine. While his current work is non-medical, it draws on his extensive medical and doctoral training to hundreds of clients reclaim movement and live pain-free after being told to accept a future of unstoppable decline.


    Early Athletic Career & Military Service

    Antony's understanding of injury and recovery began early. A competitive wrestler from age six, he represented his country internationally throughout his youth. By 18, this high-level athletic career had resulted in multiple injuries including herniated discs, torn ligaments, and significant joint damage.

    At 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he earned dual bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology and Psychology through an accelerated military education programme. His service in Afghanistan ended with severe combat injuries with the resulting spinal injuries adding five more herniated discs to his existing conditions.

    Military doctors delivered a prognosis that would shape his future career: he would never run again and needed to accept a life of limited mobility and pain management. He chose a different path.

    Driven by his personal recovery journey, Antony pursued extensive medical training:

    • MD, PhD in Physical Therapy and Kinesiology - Medical School, Hungary
    • Doctor of Osteopathy - Additional qualification in manual medicine
    • Traditional Chinese Medicine - Certified in acupuncture and acupressure
    • Multiple Movement Methodologies - Including regression-based rehabilitation and multi-planar movement systems
    • FRC (Functional Range Conditioning) - Advanced system for mobility development, joint health, and body control
    • FRCms (Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist) - Specialized certification in assessment and improvement of functional mobility
    • CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) - Elite certification for evidence-based strength and conditioning programs
    • KinStretch - Certified instructor in mobility-focused movement practice
    • NASM ACE (National Academy of Sports Medicine - Advanced Corrective Exercise) - Specialized certification in corrective exercise strategies

    This diverse educational background was deliberately cultivated to understand why conventional rehabilitation protocols often fail and to develop more effective alternatives.


    Clinical Practice & Philosophy

    Antony established his first practice in Ireland, where he operated for nine years before expanding internationally. His approach differs markedly from conventional physiotherapy and pain management:

    • Regression Methodology: Starting with foundational movement patterns to rebuild trust and capability
    • Multi-Dimensional Movement: Moving beyond linear, machine-based exercises to develop real-world resilience
    • Patient Independence: Teaching clients to understand and manage their own recovery rather than creating dependency

    His client outcomes speak to the effectiveness of this approach. Patients who arrive on multiple medications, facing surgery recommendations, or told to "manage" permanent conditions regularly achieve full recovery and return to activities they'd written off forever.

    This practice has produced remarkable recoveries:

    From Crippling Foot Pain to Pain-Free Walking: One client struggled with debilitating foot pain for years despite multiple physical therapy attempts. After working with Dr. Antony and following his foot exercise protocols, they progressed from being unable to walk to experiencing complete pain relief and restored mobility.

    Herniated Discs Recovery Without Surgery: A Jiu-Jitsu practitioner with two herniated discs was told by another doctor they needed surgery. After 7 months in Dr. Antony's program, they avoided surgery completely and returned to training through his systematic rehabilitation approach.
